How to Check Existing Orders and Dispute Records After an Overseas Marketplace Ends Its Korean Service

When an overseas marketplace ends its Korean service, the shopping site, account page, customer-support channel, and payment dispute system may not all disappear at the same time.

Your goal is to reconstruct each transaction from several independent records and act before the applicable support or payment deadline expires. Do not rely only on the marketplace’s “My Orders” page.

Save Everything Available Before Account Access Ends

Start with the marketplace’s official closure notice. Confirm whether it gives separate deadlines for account login, order-history downloads, open disputes, refund requests, store credit, and customer support.

Save the notice as a PDF or screenshot rather than only bookmarking it. The Korean page may later redirect or disappear.

If the marketplace has a global website, check whether the Korean account was migrated. Use your existing login first and look for the old order numbers. Do not assume that creating a new global account with the same email will automatically restore Korean-market purchases.

When access is still available, preserve the following records:

RecordWhere to Find ItWhy It Matters
Order confirmationEmail or order-history pageProves the item, seller, price, and order number
Invoice or receiptEmail, account, or payment pageShows the merchant, currency, tax, and payment amount
Shipping recordCarrier page or shipping emailShows dispatch, tracking events, and delivery status
Refund or cancellation noticeEmail or account messageConfirms what the marketplace promised
Dispute recordSupport portal, chat, or case emailShows the issue, date filed, and case number
Product descriptionSaved listing or screenshotSupports claims that the item differed from the listing
Closure noticeOfficial help or announcement pageShows deadlines and post-closure procedures

If normal login is unavailable but the company still holds Korean customer information, you may ask its privacy contact whether the associated account, transaction, and support records remain accessible. Korea’s Personal Information Portal explains that individuals may request access to personal information, as well as correction, deletion, or suspension of processing, although the available route and legal limits depend on the organization and applicable law.

Do not delete the account until every export, refund, and open dispute has been resolved. Account deletion can make ordinary recovery tools unavailable even when some records must still be retained for legal or payment purposes.

Rebuild a Missing Order From Independent Evidence

If the marketplace account no longer works, begin with email. Search the marketplace name together with terms such as:

order, receipt, invoice, shipped, tracking, refund, cancellation, dispute, case

Also search by the amount charged, seller name, product name, and the last four digits of the payment card when those details appear in the receipt.

Next, open the statement from the card issuer, PayPal, or other payment provider. The marketplace’s store name and the merchant name shown on the payment record may differ, so record both.

A tracking page can establish whether a parcel was accepted, moved, delivered, or returned, but it does not prove what was inside the package. Likewise, an archived product page may help show how the item was described, but it should be paired with the order confirmation and payment record to prove that you bought that listing.

Create one evidence folder for each unresolved order. It should contain:

  • Order number and seller
  • Product and selected variant
  • Payment date, amount, and currency
  • Promised dispatch or delivery date
  • Tracking number and current status
  • Description of the problem
  • Refund, replacement, or delivery outcome requested
  • Dates of every support contact
  • Dispute or reference number

The Korea Consumer Agency asks consumers seeking relief to provide supporting documents such as contracts, receipts, written objections to the business, electronic messages, and screenshots. Organizing these documents before escalating the case reduces delays and makes the dispute easier to explain.

Treat unused marketplace credit or gift-card balances as a separate issue. Ask the company in writing whether the balance will be refunded, transferred to a global account, converted to a coupon, or expire. There is no universal rule that automatically transfers Korean store credit to another regional service.

Use the Payment Trail When the Marketplace Cannot Resolve the Case

First contact the marketplace’s remaining global or closure-support channel. State that you were a Korean-service customer and provide the order number, transaction date, payment method, problem, and requested resolution.

A useful message is:

I purchased this item through the former Korean service. Please confirm whether the order and dispute records are still retained and advise how the pending refund or non-delivery claim will be resolved.

If the marketplace does not respond, use the dispute process of the company that handled the payment.

For PayPal payments, the Korean help center directs users to the Resolution Center, where they select the relevant transaction and report issues such as non-delivery, an item significantly different from its description, unauthorized activity, billing errors, or an uncooperative seller. PayPal also applies separate deadlines for opening and escalating cases, so check the date shown for the individual transaction rather than relying on a general number from an older article.

For a Korean credit or debit card, contact the issuer using the number shown on the card or statement. The Korea Consumer Agency notes that chargeback may be available in overseas transactions involving suspected fraud, non-delivery, suspected counterfeits, or a seller that has stopped responding. Eligibility, evidence requirements, and deadlines depend on the issuer and card network, so submit the request promptly.

Provide the payment company with the complete evidence folder, not only a screenshot showing that the Korean site is closed. The key issue is usually whether the specific item was delivered, matched the description, was refunded as promised, or involved an authorized transaction.

When the seller is overseas and direct contact has failed, Korean consumers can request guidance through the Korea Consumer Agency’s International Transaction Consumer Portal. The portal provides international-purchase guidance, dispute procedures, and consultation for problems involving foreign businesses.

The 1372 Consumer Counseling Center is another starting point for general consumer consultation, particularly when a Korean purchasing agent, domestic intermediary, or Korean payment-related business is involved. The Korea Consumer Agency currently accepts telephone and online consultation through the 1372 system.

Use this order of action:

Check the closure notice → save or reconstruct the order → contact the marketplace → open the payment dispute → use the appropriate Korean consumer channel.

Even when the marketplace account disappears, the transaction may still be documented through email, the carrier, the card issuer, PayPal, and previous support communications. Those independent records become the practical basis for recovering a refund or completing an unresolved dispute.
